What is a Holistic Nutritionist?

A Holistic Nutritionist is a health professional trained in natural nutrition and complementary modalities, whose key role is to educate people on the benefits of supreme nutrition.

With a world of conflicting information available to to anyone, nutrition is confusing at the best of times. Holistic Nutritionists guide their clients through the sea of information out there to help them have a better understanding of all the supplements and diets on the market. They work with clients to determine and help improve the nutritional causes of health challenges, and they are qualified to construct personalised diet and lifestyle programs that optimise health. Many holistic nutritionists also add to the health and well-being of individuals by writing articles for health magazines and blogs.

About My Training

I studied at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) where they have been Teaching the Medicine of the Future™ since 1994. CSNN is the largest leading school in holistic nutrition education in Canada. CSNN’s practical and science-based natural nutrition program provided me professional training to create individualised whole foods, lifestyle, and supplement plans for my clients. As a Holistic Nutritionist, I endorse the promotion of whole, locally grown organic foods; sustainable farming practices; and a non-toxic environment.

How is My Approach Different?

I recognise that everyone is biochemically distinct and has unique nutritional needs. I do not endorse any particular diet; instead, I address areas of imbalance in your body through dietary, lifestyle, emotional, and supplemental means specific to you only after thorough evaluation. Holistic nutrition addresses the interrelationship of mind, body and spirit.

I believe education is the first and most important step towards optimal health and well-being because prevention and self-responsibility are fundamental to any successful health care program. Therefore I pride myself in providing simple to understand education for my clients on the why’s and how’s of sound nutrition. I have a solid holistic and scientific education with knowledge and understanding of many common pathologies. I aim to find and address the root cause of health issues instead of supplying temporary relief.

My Scope of Practice

As a Holistic Nutritionist, I do not diagnose medical conditions nor prescribe medication. I am more than happy to work along side your medical doctor, naturopath, or other health care providers to provide you with the best possible care. There is a need for all types of practitioners and therefore I work integratively with both the natural and medical professions.
